A personal beginning.

Behind every brand is a story.... and RILEY & MONICA began with a very personal one. 

I'm Lea, the founder, maker and the hands behind every piece you'll discover here. RILEY & MONICA is built on the belief that clothing should be consciously created, thoughtfully designed and made to last. Not rushed, overproduced or disposable.

Every garment is cut and handmade to order by me in my London based studio. This slower approach allows me to work mindfully, reduce waste and focus on quality at every stage. Nothing is mass produced. Everything is made with intention, specifically for you. 

How it all began.

Starting a clothing brand was never just about creating clothes. With a degree in fashion and a genuine love for the industry, I always knew I wanted to be part of it but also knew something needed to be done differently. 

Like many people, I've experienced clothing that didn't last, didn't quite fit right or simply didn't feel good to wear. Over time, those experiences sparked a desire to create pieces that felt effortless.... clothing that worked with your body and your lifestyle, not against it.

My goal became simple: to make everyday dressing feel seamless... where style, comfort and quality exist together.

Building with purpose.

When I first thought about creating RILEY & MONICA, I was driven by the idea of making a positive impact on an industry known for overconsumption and waste. A better, sustainable approach wasn't an afterthought.... it was a requirement.  

I wanted to design timeless, well-made pieces using better materials and responsible practices without compromising on style or quality. Challenging the fast-fashion mindset wasn't the easiest path but offering a thoughtful alternative felt worth it. 

This journey excited me because it's not just about clothing, it's about encouraging more mindful consumption and building something that feels considered, honest and lasting. 

The meaning behind the name.

RILEY & MONICA is named after my grandparents. Two people who shaped my values more than they'll ever know. 

My Grandpa Riley embodies effortless style: sleek, sharp and suave. My Grandma Monica valued comfort and looking put together, wearing and repairing pieces for years rather than discarding of them. Their approach to clothing mirrored how they lived... with care, intention and strong values.

That essence is what I want this brand to carry forward. 

Why Slow, Made to Order?

Choosing a slow, made-to-order model was a natural decision. Creating pieces on demand allows each garment to be crafted with care, reduced unnecessary waste and keeps production intentional rather than excessive.

Slow fashion, to me, is about choosing better. Embracing quality over quantity and offering pieces designed to be worn often and loved for years.
