Boiled wool is created by fulling woven wool fibres, resulting in a dense, insulating fabric with natural structure and warmth. It is breathable, temperature regulating and naturally resistant to odours and creasing. Due to its felted nature, boiled wool holds its shape well but benefits from gentle care to preserve its texture and longevity.
Wash
Spot clean where possible to maintain the integrity of the fibres. If necessary, hand wash in cold water or use a wool cycle at 30°C with a wool-safe detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Do not wring or twist the fabric, as this can distort its shape.
Dry
Gently press out excess water with a towel and lay flat to dry on a clean surface. Reshape whilst damp to maintain structure. Keep away from direct heat or sunlight and do not tumble dry.
Heat
Boiled wool rarely requires ironing. If needed, use a cool iron with a pressing cloth or steam lightly to refresh the fibres.
Take Note
Avoid frequent washing, as wool is naturally self-cleaning and benefits from airing between wears. With proper care, boiled wool will maintain its structure and warmth for many seasons.
