Cotton is commonly known for its soft and breathable properties. It is a very versatile fibre that is grown from the cotton plant and can be spun into woven or knitted fabrics of various thicknesses, without losing its strength. For many of our items we have selected to use a double gauze fabric with a natural textured surface to it. This fabric may shrink a little due to its cotton fibres and looser weave. However, this is usually very minimal after each wash. Due to its fine double layers and relaxed weave it also becomes fluffier and softer over time.
Wash
It is recommended to invert all garments before washing. Hand wash with warm water or machine wash at 30°C or lower on a delicate or regular cycle. Utilise a mild detergent and avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach or fabric softeners
Dry
Double gauze features a loose weave and may shrink in high temperatures. We advise not to tumble drying to prevent additional shrinkage and fibre damage. Instead, gently shake and reshape whilst damp, then air dry on a line or hanger.
Iron
There is a natural texture to double gauze, post washing this can appear more tighter but can easily be loosened with some steam on a low heat or equally the fabric can be worn as is. Where possible it is best to use a steamer but if using an iron, be careful not to over press to keep the fabrics textured appearance.
Take Note
Cotton that has been coloured may fade over time but looking after your garments according to their needs will prolong both the colour and life of the fabric. Due to its relaxed weave, avoid using any harsh chemicals.
Please expect a small amount of shrinkage on the first few washes.
