Produced from the fibres of the flax plant, linen is deemed to be one of the most sustainable fabrics due to its significantly low levels of irrigation besides rain water. Known for its light, breathable compositions and resilient nature, linen will naturally seize up after washing it but once you start to wear it, the fibres will begin to relax and you will find that it does soften up over time, especially when pressed.
Wash
All garments should be turned inside out before washing. Hand wash with lukewarm water or machine wash at 30°C or colder on a delicate cycle with non-bio detergent. Avoid bleach or whitening agents when washing white linen. Use gentler methods and detergents for stain removal prior to laundering.
Dry
It is best to remove linen clothing as soon as possible from the washing machine to prevent any further wrinkling. Loosely shake out and hang or line dry away from direct sunlight. Please do not tumble dry as this damages the natural fibres and may cause further shrinkage.
Iron
Linen naturally wrinkles but can be steamed thoroughly to help relax the linen fibres and smooth out any creases. It can also be ironed on a medium heat whilst a little damp from drying or try applying steam if the fabric is completely dry.
Take Note
Coloured linen naturally fades over time but if cared for properly, garments will withhold its durability and last longer. Overtime, linen becomes much softer and more easy to maintain to wear.
Please expect a small amount of shrinkage on the first few washes.
